The EGU foursomes qualifying event was held at Sheringham Golf Club in Norfolk. The four counties, Beds, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridge area were drawn to play in the morning and Bedfordshire drew Norfolk - which was a great draw for us. Unfortunately we were missing two key players, one due to holiday and the other to a hand injury which meant we had a slightly weaker team. However, having got the draw we wanted we failed to perform to the best of our abilities and as a result lost the match 3 - 2. There were fine wins by Bill Love and Jim Gleasure, and also by Gordon Fuller and Peter Jones. As usual, everybody tried their hardest but on the day we were not good enough.
We also played a league match against Hertfordshire at South Herts Golf Club. Hertfordshire however turned up with a very strong team indeed and we suffered a crushing 8½ to 1½ defeat. This now leaves us one league match left against Middlesex so hopefully we can come up with a result in this fixture.
