Bedfordshire were away to Essex on Sunday 19th June 2011, at West Essex Golf Club for our latest League match. The course and the weather were excellent for golf, and the spirit between both teams was excellent as usual. Essex are about as strong as it gets in County golf and we were expecting them to field a very strong side, which they most certainly did.

The morning foursomes were a very one sided affair with Essex winning 3-1. Our only point came from Niall Johnston and Blane Breheny who won comfortably 6/5, but the rest of the team were soundly beaten.

As always when you don't win the foursomes the singles is an even bigger ask and so it proved once again losing 6½ to 1½. Matt Hill won a good point on the last, and a half from Blane Breheny were our only successes. Frankly this was a poor performance from the team and they were the first to admit that many did not perform on the day.

We need to work much harder before our next match against Hertfordshire if we are to get back to winning ways quickly, and it is up to the players to get onto the practice ground before the next match.
